What began in 2005 as a small interior design firm has now grown into a stand-alone, multi-faceted, brick-and-mortar showroom. With a recently expanded footprint, Elizabeth Home not only offers interior design services to private clients, but also operates as a retail shop, coffee bar, art gallery, and florist (Petal & Press).

“During the initial months of the pandemic, when the world seemingly shut down, we weren’t sure how to project our future pipeline of business. Instead, we decided to shift with the environment, open up a new endeavor, and focus on becoming more accessible to the neighborhood by turning the adjacent vacant space into an essential business.” The ever-changing landscape of affordable home accessories, emerging art, unique finds, and vintage furniture creates an approachable atmosphere.

“We put a lot of thought into what products we offer. Our studio is a kaleidoscopic treasure trove that takes time to discover, and it’s become a great visual tool for our clients to see how many elements can work together without feeling chaotic.”

Elizabeth Benedict’s design career began overseas. While working for a local gallery, she joined the Hong Kong Textile Society and designed a line of table linens under the name Essential Asia. Once she returned stateside (and in between having four children), she earned a certificate for Decorative Arts at The New England School of Art and Design in Boston. She founded Elizabeth Home Decor & Design in 2005 and has a brick and mortar studio in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.

Be faithful to your own taste, because nothing you really like is ever out of style.

- Billy Baldwin

Elizabeth Home Decor & Design’s portfolio reflects Elizabeth’s extensive travel, interest in photography, and the influences of a myriad of design cultures she encountered along the way. From the streets of Hong Kong and London to safaris in South Africa, the common thread that interconnects her work is a love of color, texture and unexpected patterns, the opportunity to mix old with new, and a love of art and photography.

Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.

- Desmond Tutu

As a co-founder of Heading Home to Dinner, Elizabeth has long been involved in the philanthropy efforts of the Boston design community. Heading Home to Dinner was founded as a way to build fellowship within the design community while reaching out to support our less fortunate neighbors. It is their mission to raise awareness and help alleviate homelessness in the Boston community. Heading Home is a non-profit that re-houses and provides a supported pathway to self-sufficiency for young families in the Boston area.
